(CLOSED) 500-Watcher Contesty-Raffley Celebration! The mini-magnets were elated (and I was flat-out shocked) to discover that they have 500 amazing watchers, six months into their mini-magnetic adventure. They poked me and said, "We ought to celebrate these fine people, you know."
I quite agreed. The question then became: How ought we to celebrate?
We could hold a contest, but then we'd have to pick something that was "the best." Best-ness is a tricky business with art-n'-writing, being, as they are, highly subjective. And we could hold a raffle, but those are kind of boring, because you don't really get to play. You just sit there and wait for a name to be drawn.
After much mini-magnetic discussion, the solution became obvious: we ought to hold a contesty-raffley celebration thingy.

I tip my face
up to the rain
and ask it
for a kiss
gracious drops
gently caress me;
stoking desire
into liquid fire
Moonlight and starshineThe starlight in her eyes filled my heart and soul,
With constellations of longing and bliss.
Indeed, she is the Moon,
Guiding my way, and soaring through my dreams.
Scribble storiesScribbled down her arms were words,
words after words,
black on her skin.
And the words formed stories,
that she kept coming back to,
for the words don't stop,
they come and come again,
baiting her with their tangles and she writes and writes more.
She had written her skin with the words,
thick and deep,
black against white and red -
the walls were next,
when she ran out of skin...
and now she's moved writing on glass -
windows and plates,
words coating every surface
and the stories are still coming....
Start of a Journey Are the shoes slowing you down,
when the feet yarn to touch the ground?
Ditch the shoes, you don't need them,
your feet know more,
you should trust them.
Give the shoes for the wind,
chase after,

CradleLong gone and worn
are these trails,
old and lost from
the mind of mankind.
The forest is dark,
but not dead at all,
with whispers and whispers
of mad man's fall.
And the trees shall tremble,
devour the ground,
no more cradle can here be found.
The world will change,
and clarity too,
walks with madness,
like I do with you.
So Simply Worded"But you see, my dearest,"
In return, he had pointed out so kindly,
"You've been living in a life of illusion,"
"For I've always been ' 'round the bend'."
He then smiled,
"This suit and tie I wear,"
"Just so happens to"
Shatter this illusion that you've been seeing."
- - -
"So in short, miss..."
"You've been utterly lied to,"
"So much that you've gone down a path"
"That no one else can possibly relate."
Risk for rewardOh, my birdcage beauty…
Have you never longed
To taste the sky?
You see, my free fellow…
I have everything I need,
Why would I soar to die?
Oh, my birdcage beauty!
The air is the freshest,
The feed, most satisfying!
But my free fellow,
This is my home –
I cannot leave it.
Shall I slip a feather out, I will fall
For I know not how to fly.
Oh, my birdcage beauty,
All of us must fall,
You must know that.
Only then may you taste
The brilliant skies as I do.
WingsThere's something about
long stretches of road at night,
where nobody is around
but the dim glow of street lights,
that makes me want to push down
on the gas pedal and fly off
into the unknown

GhostsSometimes
I take a deep breath and remember
The you that knew me.
But then my body reminds me
To breathe,
And as I exhale, you disappear.
For you will never be more than
A wraith.
Still Dreaming/Just AwakeWe dance and sway in harmony
Upon the backs of my eyelids
When, suddenly,
The sun reminds me of the time;
Slurred words struggle to keep this dream mine.
And as I awake to the approaching dawn,
You see my face twitch and
Pull me in for a kiss.
Silver Lining Symphony Remember
how summer sings
quietly in your ears;
when your
stray heart
stutters
hold it and wait,
for your cold hands
are meant to hide
the fire within.
Listen,
every symphony,
every beautiful thing
is made
of pauses
and broken pieces;
diamonds do not reflect
the light
until they are cut.
Remember
how the sun filters
through cracked clouds
after a storm;
when the rain
gently kisses your palms,
forgive the scars
for what has been.
Listen
and always
remember,
far beyond this pain
there are
luminous adventures,
thriving,
in the wake
of your
resilience.
star crossed loversoh, my sweet sun and moon...
have you never longed
to touch the earth?
yes, my darling stars,
I've tried to count you
on many a sleepless night.
oh no, my freeborn sky
I'm not really caged at all
it's my roots that keep me grounded.
oh, my star crossed lover...
have you never longed
to stay with me?
Daily Poem #63 - Dear DiaryDear Diary,
I met the strangest person
to ever walk this earth.
She stood amidst the misery,
and yet she beamed with mirth.
In fact I met her twice,
the first time was at noon.
She stood there - quite the mystery -
and hummed a cheerful tune.
I asked her where she came from,
and she answered with a smile:
"My oh my, didn't you notice?
I've been here all the while."
Open-mouthed I stood there,
not knowing what to say.
Never had I seen her,
not before today.
I took my leave from her then,
this riddle in human form.
Yet just thinking about her seemed
to make my heart quite warm.
By the time the sun went down
I longed to see her once more.
At midnight, quiet as a mouse,
I snuck out the front door.
Swiftly my feet carried me
to the place I saw her first.
To me she was the water
as I was dying of thirst.
Behold! There she stood,
I could see her from afar;
a beacon in the darkness,
shining like a star.
A wondrous sound filled my ears,
when she sang her song.
My heart knew in an instant then,
Daily Poem #45 - where dusk meets dawnWhen I met you
I had already wandered this world
for aeons untold.
Always pondering
the whats
and the whys
and the hows,
of all things in existence (and beyond).
Yet every discovery,
each breakthrough
and world-changing insight
left nothing but a stale taste in my mouth.
For what is knowledge,
no matter how important,
without a kindred mind
to share it with?
Insignificant,
devoid of meaning.
But all of this would change
with you -
you who loved discussing
w h i s p e r e d secrets and
untold mysteries
until the break of day.
A whole new world opened up for the two of us -
one where solving mysteries became
not just a purpose,
but an adventure.
Two minds rising,
\\ s o a r i n g //
as birds do;
reaching unprecedented heights
from where everything
seemed possible.
And it was today that I finally realized
just how much I had fallen for you -
We climbed the highest cliff in sight,
one at the edge of day,
and you boldly spoke to me:
Come sit with me
Child of lightWelcome one, welcome all,
To the exhibit of a girl who makes angels fall!
Come see the smile which blinds the sun; the eyes that chase away your every fear.
Take in the grandeur of her heart and the purity of her soul.
Stand in awe of the mind and body of the girl angels look up to.
As the essence of her glow in the sunlight, is she not truly a child of God?

"my dearest little duck," said she,
"I fear we've reached the end.
for with that suit and tie
you've gone completely round the bend."
"Well," the dapper duck replied,
"You clearly think I am a quack for being a duck
who enjoys dressing up in suits and ties.
Perhaps this is where we ought to part ways, you and I!"

Brighter Than The SunOnce upon a time, there was a little girl.
For reasons beyond her control, she grew up in an old and vast manor. That manor, however, had no windows, and she was not allowed to leave the house until she came of age.
For many years, a little candle was her only friend, and the only one she would confide in. One day, the girl spotted a ray of light shining brightly through a crack in the wall. Curious as she was, she pushed her eye against it, hoping to get a glimpse of the outside world. Alas, the sun was too bright and her eyes weren't accustomed to this kind of brightness, and she winced at the pain it caused her.
Afraid and frustrated at the same time, she later told the candle about what had happened. "Oh candle, the sun is so magnificent and bright...! If only I could look at it without fear of being blinded." She paused for a moment, then, filled with resolve, continued. "Someday", she said, "I will burn so bright that the sun will have to shield its eyes from me. Yes, this

A Flash of Silver The fire crackled and bounced off the sides of the steel barrel, throwing its light and warmth to the sky. Three pairs of hands in mismatched gloves stood over the flames attempting to catch the waves in the tattered gloves. Glowing newspaper embers fluttered away, drifting into the air, their short lives coming to an end as their wings turn black. Each person had a story, and each told it in short lines as if decades of suffering could be told in monosyllabic verse.
“My dad left when we was small.” That was Jackson. He is the tallest. His hair was tied up in unwashed writhing black cords and strips of yellow cloth. Cracking patches of grime decorated the corners of his depthless eyes and dark skin. “We were alone when they came. My dad’s colt couldn't do nothing to the Chromies. Hush . . .“Hush,” he whispers, “Come, there there… we have ever so much time to destroy things.”
As my tears dry, I look up to determined, darkened eyes. Destruction, of course, would be my companion’s main course, with fire as dessert, and revenge at his feet, lapping at the leftover crimson. He’s been drunk on vengeance since I’d met him.
“Not destruction we search for,” I say, my touch soft on his hard look, my hand carefully remolding the pain that had lingered in his expression. “It’s rebirth.”
A shake of the head, a glint in his eye. He doesn’t know why I choose the way I do. I can see his point of view, though, clear as the light we are shielded from. His rage blooms in the dark we huddle in. It’s my job to keep him from being dangerous, my turn to guard him from his own fear.
“Yes, you’ve been hurt.” I almost sing to him. “We all have. But it’s our decision, do we pass
